Manhattan Chapter: The Fabulous Jewels of Marjorie Merriweather Post

One of America’s most stylish and powerful women, Marjorie Merriweather Post, was the owner of General Foods, was married four times and maintained several estates, including Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. She also amassed a unique and extensive jewelry collection. Deborah Finleon will share an intimate look at Post’s lavish lifestyle, loves and how it all intersected with her exquisite jewelry. Some of her jewelry belongs to the Smithsonian Institution and some is part of an exhibit at Hillwood, her Washington, D.C. home.

Finleon, a GIA GG and certified master appraiser with the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, has more than 15 years of experience in the jewelry industry, ranging from design to retail to appraisal. Her work in the appraisals spans countless assignments for retail and private clients, as well as for estates and as a consultant.

Finleon is associate director of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. As chair of education, she coordinates the mentoring program, was co-editor of the recently revised Appraisal Studies Course and presents at bi-annual conferences.

All are welcome to attend; whether you're a GIA graduate, student, industry associate, hobbyist or guest. Please share this invitation with any others you feel would be interested.
