Identification of Synthetic Diamonds
Sunday, July 23, 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Dr. Ulrika D’Haenens-Johansson, Senior Research Scientist, will review the status of synthetic diamonds in the jewelry market and their gemological and spectroscopic features. Rapid and automated screening technologies, which have been developed to separate synthetics and treated diamonds from natural ones, will also be discussed and reviewed.
GIA M2M™
Sunday, July 23 and 24, 2:30 p.m.
GIA is excited to introduce a service that gives consumers a new way to learn their diamond’s history: GIA M2M™. A digital storytelling platform and app, M2M provides a close look into all the chapters of a diamond’s story—from the mine, through the cutting process, and to the market. In this presentation, GIA Vice President of Laboratory Operations Matt Crimmin will share more about M2M and how you may be able to get involved.

The New GIA iD100™
GIA presents the GIA iD100™, an easy-to-operate, sophisticated desktop instrument that reliably identifies mounted and unmounted natural diamonds, separating them from all simulants and synthetics. This instrument is the first of its kind to be offered to the trade, and is available at a list price of $4,995 USD. This is the latest in a series of gemological instruments and services from GIA that addresses concerns in the gem and jewelry trade about the possibility of undisclosed synthetic or treated diamonds in the supply chain. Melee Analysis Service
The GIA Melee Analysis Service separates natural, untreated diamonds from simulants and potentially synthetic or treated diamonds, and sorts the screened diamonds by color range. See a video at the booth and find out more.
Telling the Story of a Diamond: GIA M2M™
GIA Vice President of Lab Operations Matt Crimmin will talk about this unique new service allows everyone along the diamond value chain to tell the story of a diamond – from the mine, through the cutting process and to the market. Be sure to hear Crimmin’s presentations during the In-Booth Briefings at the booth, or talk to a GIA representative. The Briefing will be held on Sunday, July 23 and Monday, July 24, 2:30 p.m., Booth 3510.
