Houston Chapter: Meet & Greet Rémy Rotenier

Join the GIA Alumni Houston Chapter for a Meet & Greet and a talk on ‘The Importance of Freehand Jewelry Design’ featuring Rémy Rotenier.

For centuries jewelry design was done by hand. The relatively recent birth of CAD technology has gotten a lot of attention in the jewelry community as a precise tool but it cannot replace the human hand. Maybe that is why a resurgence in appreciation for hand renderings is very noticeable in our industry. Any one of us can create by hand with some practice.

As you sketch a ring in front of a customer something magical happens. Because there is no separation between you and your art, the piece becomes alive. The client is part of the creative process of one of the most important objects they will own. Very quickly you feel their excitement thanks to this wonderful communication tool.
