Hong Kong Chapter: Webinar — A Closer Look at Rubies

Join the Hong Kong GIA Alumni Chapter for a webinar with Dr. Mei Mei Sit Ph.D, GG, FGA, GIA Supervisor, Identification (Colored Stones).

Dr. Mei Mei Sit will provide an overview of ruby, including its mining, treatment, and lore, as well as its identification and origin determination; and share her insights into the challenges faced by gemologists in the 21st century.

Dr. Mei Mei Sit obtained a Doctoral degree in chemistry from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and she is a Graduate Gemologist (GG) and Fellow (FGA) of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A). Her role as the supervisor of the identification services department at the GIA Hong Kong Laboratory enables her to develop specialist knowledge of a wide range of gemstones, the various treatment techniques and their detection, as well as the geographic origin determination of major gemstones.
