Presenter: Travis Lejman, FGA, GG
Renowned New York City jewelry appraiser and gemologist, Travis Lejman, will talk about his favorite playfully colored gemstone, opal. Travis has continued Dr. Paul Downing’s work in opal grading and has presented past workshops with the NAJA on opals. He will go over brief grading techniques on opal grading and show us a variety of opals from around the world, from Lightning Ridge to Mexico to Ethiopia.
Lejman has been in the industry for 20 years and is the second generation in his family business, Gemological Appraisal Laboratory of America, Inc. After receiving his B.S. from Stony Brook University in 2005, Travis continued on to graduate with his GG from GIA New York’s residency program in 2006 and went on to receive his F.G.A. accreditation from Gem-A in 2013. He is also a certified senior member of the NAJA and actively attends and participates in the many annual shows and conferences all over the country.
