The Washington D.C. Chapter is honored to welcome Robert Weldon, Director of the Richard T. Liddicoat Gemological Library & Information Center, for a recap of the 2022 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.

Robert Weldon has been covering Tucson gem and mineral shows for over 30 years. Because he always photographs some of the world’s most amazing gemstones when he is there, he will have a photo essay to share of highlights he saw in Tucson this year.

Weldon will be joined by Washington D.C. Chapter board members Denise Nelson, GIA GG, and Sherlene Bradbury, GIA GG, who will recap their very own Tucson Gem and Mineral Show highlights.

About Robert Weldon:

Robert’s career started in the 1980s with GIA, after receiving his Graduate Gemologist Diploma. In the 1990s he became a senior editor writing about colored gemstones for JCK magazine. He later moved to Professional Jeweler (USA) magazine, before returning to GIA in 2006.

As a gemological photojournalist, Weldon has traveled to some of the world’s major gem sites, including Burma, India, East and South Africa, Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil, Russia, and several other gem sources.
