Legacy of Excellence

GIA was founded to help jewellers understand the gemstones they sell and it is our non-profit mission to spread gem knowledge throughout the industry and to the public. This means we conduct advanced gemmological research, which we use to create instruments that further enhance our research capabilities. Empowered by our instruments, GIA remains at the forefront of technology and ready to take on technological disruptions, such as new treatments and laboratory-grown gemstones.

New Challenges. New Tools.

The GIA iD100® uses advanced spectroscopic technology to distinguish natural diamonds from laboratory-grown (HPHT and CVD) diamonds and diamond simulants. The GIA iD100 can test colourless to near-colourless, green-to-blue and brown diamonds, as well as pink diamonds when used with the GIA iD100 Pink Diamond Software Upgrade.

The GIA DiamondCheck gives even more comprehensive results. It uses infrared technology to label tested stones as natural diamonds, treated or laboratory-grown diamonds, or non-diamond material. These and other GIA instruments offer retailers and customers the peace-of-mind they desire when buying diamonds.
