Blockchain is a decentralised distributed ledger that maintains a continuously growing list of records called "blocks", that are secured from tampering and revision. Blockchain technology lends itself to protecting high-value assets with critical data, like diamonds. Diamond grading results recorded on the blockchain are immutable – permanent and cannot be changed – ensuring the authenticity and security of the asset’s data.

The blockchain diamond grading report includes the key GIA grading data – Colour, Clarity, Cut, Carat Weight, Shape and Cutting Style – and GIA’s Statement of Authenticity.

Blockchain reports can be verified via GIA Report Check where the full grading results can be accessed. For blockchain-enabled report numbers, there will be an icon indicating that the report is blockchain-secured. A PDF of the report is not available on Report Check for blockchain-enabled report numbers.

GIA blockchain diamond grading reports are an important step for the diamond industry and represent the future of diamond grading, enabling GIA to bring higher security and trust to our customers.
