Canadian Mining Industry: Taking a Step Up with Range of Operations

The expansion of various mining projects in Canada’s North (Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut) is set to lead the country in economic growth over the next two years. Spinoff activity is also expected to increase, based on pending mines in the assessment phase or preproduction stage, further boosting employment and local economic development. Production in these areas is expected to last well into the coming decades. Environmental groups and local residents are also interested in the impact on the Canadian North ecosystem as well as the long-term effects on the towns and industry when the boom is over.
