Heart Jewelry and Gems for a Valentine

The heart has been celebrated as the dwelling place of romantic love for centuries. Some scholars speculate that the earlier winged Cupids with heart-shaped arrows depicted in Renaissance art symbolized love, while others say the heart as the seat of affection dates back the first century BCE.
Hearts and Valentine’s Day were forever wedded when Hallmark began mass production of Valentine’s Day cards in 1913. Today, it’s a holiday celebrated around the world.
Valentine’s Day has a long tradition. In 496 CE Pope Galasius designated February 14th as a feast day to mark the martyrdom of Saint Valentine. While little is known about him, he is considered the Patron Saint of love, blissful engaged couples and happily married people. His image is often associated with birds and roses.
To-morrow is Saint Valentine’s day,
All in the morning betime,
And I a maid at your window,
To be your Valentine.
You don’t need to be in love to appreciate the romance and devotion of Valentine’s Day, or the beauty of the heart-shaped gems and heart-inspired jewelry. If you “heart” jewelry and gems, every day is Valentine’s Day.
