The Twenty-Eight Year Index is intended to serve as a concise guide to the subjects and authors found in the more than 8,500 pages that comprise the 1981–2008 issues of Gems & Gemology. This index is divided into a Subject Index and an Author Index.

1981–2008 SUBJECT INDEX
This index does not cite each and every occurrence of a particular term; it gives only the articles and regular sections in which substantial information was provided for that topic. The reader is referred to the Author Index for the full title and co-authors of articles cited.

1981–2008 AUTHOR INDEX
The Author Index follows the Subject Index and lists (alphabetically, by surname) every author for whom an article or editorial was published in Gems & Gemology during the past 28 years.
