GIA is a nonprofit, private, postsecondary educational institution incorporated for the purpose of promoting education and research in gemology, jewelry manufacturing arts, and related subjects. GIA’s mission is to ensure confidence in gems and jewelry through innovation, knowledge and research.

GIA England, trading as GIA London, is a Registered Charity (No 1101116), and a company limited by guarantee and registered in England (No 4566140). GIA’s London campus is part of the Gemological Institute of America Group, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, USA, and is accredited in the United Kingdom by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and the British Accreditation Council (BAC). GIA London holds Tier 4 Sponsor status via the United Kingdom Visa and Immigration (UKVI) department of the UK Home Office.
