Wednesday, June 9, 2021
5:00 p.m. London, GMT
Virtual
Presenter: Alessandro Borruso
Join us for a journey with Alessandro Borruso from rocks and skulls to rare diamonds (and we might see a few). Borrruso will discuss if these gems still deserve to be the object of desire or if their success is a direct result of their clever marketing.
Alessandro Borruso, BSc FGA DGA FNAJ PJVal FIRV, is Deputy Director at Sotheby's Diamonds Europe and a leading expert on the world's rarest jewels. He is a former geologist, a certified gemologist and diamond-grader from the Gemological Association of Great Britain, a Fellow of the National Association of Jewelers (NAJ) and the Institute of Registered Valuers (IRV) with over 20 years of experience working with fine jewelry and diamonds.
His expertise has connected him to many world-famous creations, including grading all the diamonds used in Damien Hirst's famous diamond-encrusted skull artwork: "For the Love of God". He is a lecturer in gemology, luxury and jewelry here, in the UK, and abroad.
