Canadian Mining Industry: Taking a Step Up with Range of Operations

The expansion of various mining projects in Canada’s north (Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut) is set to lead the country in economic growth over the next two years. Spinoff activity that accompanies mine-related prosperity is also expected to increase based on pending mines in the assessment phases or preproduction stages, thus further boosting employment and local economic development. The projections see production in these areas lasting well into the coming decades. Environmental groups and local residents are also interested in the impact on the northern Canadian ecosystem as well as the long-term effects on the towns and industry when the boom is over.
