GIA's Jewelry Career Fair Is This Week In NYC

39 recruiters, 28 career coaches and 23 speakers will headline this free event

CARLSBAD, Calif., – July 21, 2008 – The 2008 Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) Jewelry Career Fair will take place this upcoming Friday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The GIA Jewelry Career Fair is the industry’s premier recruiting event. This year, Career Fair has lined up 39 prestigious gem and jewelry industry companies who are actively recruiting for talented potential employees for all sorts of positions.

Whether you're a first-time job seeker or a seasoned jewelry professional, Career Fair opens the door to a variety of employment opportunities, including appraising, design, marketing, manufacturing, and sales. Attendees have the chance to apply for positions with multiple employers and meet representatives from the industry’s best-known companies, such as David Yurman, Oscar Heyman, Tiffany & Co., and Zale Corp.

Besides the multiple application and networking opportunities, job seekers can get one-on-one career coaching from some 28 top jewelry professionals who are there to offer personalized advice on career choices.  Career Fair participants can attend seminars, panel discussion and a workshop led by more than 23 of the industry’s top business leaders.

For recruiters, Career Fair attracts hundreds of people already targeted on the jewelry industry, many of whom are professionally trained.

For job seekers, the fair is free and open to those interested in a profession in jewelry.

For more information, job seekers can visit GIA’s Career Fair Web site on http://careerfair.gia.edu, or call GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair hotline at 800-421-7250, ext. 4100.

Career Fair was founded by GIA and The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California. The Nielsen Jewelry Group is the prime sponsor of the New York Career Fair.

Prior to the JA Show, the GIA Jewelry Career Fair in New York will be on July 25 and will also be held September 12 at GIA’s Robert Mouawad Campus in Carlsbad, California. Like New York, the Carlsbad event will feature a recruiting area, career coaching, and panel sessions.
