GIA's Jewelry Career Fair is considered the single-most important recruitment day in the jewelry industry.

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to break into the glamorous and exciting world of gems and jewelry, your search may soon be over. The Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA), the leading educator in the gem and jewelry industry, annually hosts two Jewelry Career Fairs – one at its headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif., and the other in New York City.

Jewelry Career Fair is considered the single-most important recruitment days in the jewelry industry and gives job seekers an opportunity to meet with people from every facet of the industry. This event unites the industry’s top employers with job seekers who aspire to careers in retail, design, manufacturing, gem wholesaling, marketing, laboratory services, and more.

Every year GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair brings together representatives from approximately 50 internationally-recognized firms, such as Bulgari, Chanel, Christie’s, David Yurman, Henry Dunay Designs, Lux Bond & Green, Tiffany & Co., and Zale Corporation.

“We’re very excited to find people who are looking to be sales associates, assistant managers and store managers for the Manhattan area,” said Leesa McElroy, manager of staffing for Zale Corporation. “Career Fair is perfect for us.”

The day-long event is well-known in the jewelry industry as a career enhancement day, offering newcomers and established industry professionals the tools they need to maximize the job search. Seminars provide key information on market trends, career opportunities and hiring strategies in various industry sectors. Workshops provide the “how-tos,” from marketing your key product – yourself, to the legalities of seeking employment in the U.S.

A very popular feature of Career Fair is the one-on-one counseling area, where job seekers have the unique opportunity to get personalized career advice from some of the most influential people in the jewelry industry.

Jewelry Career Fair, founded by GIA and The 24 Karat Club of Southern California, is sponsored by The VNU Jewelry Group. For more information, call GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair hotline at 800-421-7250, ext. 4100, visit www.careerfair.gia.edu or email careerfair@gia.edu. Admission is free to job seekers.
