My GIA

Boston Aug 15th 1883
Messieurs A. H. Smith & Co

Dear Sirs,

Yours rec’d in answer would say those tools for measuring the angles of diamonds cannot be bought.   They were made by the Providence Tool Co to our order, so you can order them direct.  They will know what they made for us.  Something like this sketch with the degrees marked upon it.

Yours very truly
Henry D. Morse

P.S.  Our workshop is closed until September and the foreman has the key and is away, otherwise I could send you a pattern to copy.
