Moses to Address GIA Alumni Africa Chapter in Botswana

Lecture on synthetic diamonds and treatments scheduled for Feb. 21

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Feb. 15, 2011 – GIA (Gemological Institute of America) announced today that Thomas M. Moses, senior vice president of its Laboratory and Research, will address the GIA Alumni Association’s Africa Chapter on Feb. 21 in Botswana. The lecture, titled “Updates on Synthetic Diamonds and Treatments,” will take place at the Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana.

The presentation will feature information on the latest developments in treated and synthetic diamonds, including high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) and irradiated diamonds, and new developments in synthetics grown by HPHT and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods.  

The GIA Alumni Association’s Africa Chapter was organized to enhance ongoing education, communication and networking opportunities for GIA graduates in the Botswana and South Africa regions.

Moses’ lecture is a free event that will begin at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21. The Grand Palm Hotel is located at Bonnington Farm, Molepolole Road, Gaborone, Botswana.
