Kuwait University

Institute continues to expand Middle East course offerings

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Jan. 13, 2011 – GIA (Gemological Institute of America) recently provided its first group of classes in Kuwait held at the Kuwait University. The courses were attended by 48 students who completed the Accredited Jewelry Professional (A.J.P.) and Diamond Grading Lab courses.

GIA has been offering courses in major trade centers across the region, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

“We are honored to serve the growing requests from Middle Eastern gem and jewelry professionals for the highest quality gemological education, training and skill development,” said Judy Anand, manager, GIA Middle East. “The A.J.P. course, targeted at the retail jewelry professional, enables them to clearly and accurately provide information on the 4Cs, design, style and manufacturing features of jewelry items their customers are considering, which instils trust and confidence in the pieces they decide to purchase.”

The Diamond Grading Lab class teaches students to grade diamonds in the D-Z color range, detect synthetics, treatments, simulants and fracture-filled diamonds. They also learn to use the GIA International Diamond Grading System™ and the 4Cs.

Additional GIA Colored Stone Grading and Pearl Grading classes in Kuwait will be announced soon. For more information, call +971 4 2146841 or e-mail giaeducationmiddleeast@gia.edu.
