GIA’s New Hong Kong Laboratory to Open Sept. 1
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Aug. 25, 2010 – The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) announced today that its Hong Kong Laboratory will open Sept. 1. The new laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility that will offer on-site services for GIA Diamond Grading Reports and Diamond Dossiers for diamonds weighing 0.15 to 2.99 carats. It will also provide laser inscription and diamond sealing services.
“We are pleased to be able to offer more services to the Asian market,” said Tom Moses, senior vice president of GIA Laboratory and Research. “This new location will make it possible for us to provide even quicker service to our clients.”
The new laboratory’s address is:
Room 1411, New World Tower
18 Queen’s Road Central
Hong Kong
Items requiring services not provided in this location – such as diamonds weighing more than 3.00 carats, colored diamonds, colored gemstones and pearls – will be transferred to another GIA Laboratory and promptly returned to the Hong Kong facility.
The existing GIA Hong Kong Service Center, located in the Aon China Building on Queen’s Road Central, will close permanently. The last day for submitting and receiving stones at the Hong Kong Service Center will be Friday, Aug. 27.
