GIA Thailand Presents 22nd Gemstone Gathering
CARLSBAD, Calif. – March 19, 2009 – The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Thailand will host its 22nd Gemstone Gathering lecture on March 25 at the Tawana Hotel in Bangkok.
This program will focus on GIA’s approach to origin determinations and how it collects ruby and sapphire samples in the field. The featured guest speakers will be Kenneth Scarratt, managing director of GIA Southeast Asia and director of GIA Laboratory Bangkok, and Vincent Pardieu, GIA supervisor, Field Gemology.
The following topics will be discussed: The origin-related research that is continuously carried out in the GIA Laboratory; how field expeditions are planned and executed; and how the origin specific corundum collection is catalogued.
“We strive to share the most up-to-date research discoveries with our attendees to ensure they are well informed,” said Scarratt. “These Gemstone Gatherings also provide the opportunity to ask other gemology-related questions and to network with others in the industry.”
The 22nd GIA Gemstone Gathering will be held on March 25 from 6-9 p.m., and will include hors d’oeuvres and wine. This free event will be held in the Murano Room, on the second floor of the Tawana Hotel, 80 Surawongse Road, Bangkok.
Please RSVP to this event prior to March 25, by contacting the GIA Laboratory Bangkok on 02-632-4090 or the GIA Thailand Campus on 02-237-9575.
