DETC Elects VP of Education to Treasurer
Volume 14, Issue 2 - Spring 2005

headshot; Brook Ellis, 150 pxBrook Ellis, vice president of GIA Education, was recently elected treasurer of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), a national accrediting agency for distance learning. Ellis will chair the organization’s Finance, Budget and Audit Committee, which establishes its annual budget and exercises financial oversight of the organization.

“Mr. Ellis’ election is another example of how GIA maintains its strong leadership position in the distance learning field, and we are delighted to have him as an officer of DETC,” said Michael P. Lambert, DETC executive director.

GIA has been a DETC-accredited institution for several decades and Ellis has served on its Board of Trustees for the past two years. He will continue to serve as a board member in 2005.

“It’s quite an honor to be able to serve the DETC as treasurer, and I’m delighted with this appointment,” Ellis said. “GIA strongly believes in the ideals and benefits of distance education. With the distance education approach that GIA offers, we understand that students learn more while working at their own pace, through a medium that best fits their needs.”
