Save the Date – N.Y. Career Fair is July 23

As the weather heats up, so will your chances to land a job when GIA hosts its East Coast Career Fair July 23 in New York City’s Jacob Javits Center. The day-long event features guest speakers, one-on-one coaching sessions and the chance to meet with recruiters who represent companies with job openings.

Seminars and speakers scheduled to date include: “Interviewing Skills Workshop,” with Marc Dorio, author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Perfect Interview; “Marketing for New Businesses,” with Cindy Edelstein, president of the Jewelers Resource Bureau; and “(Re)Positioning Yourself for Success,”  a presentation in which panelists from the industry give advice on how to market skills and talents.

There will also be a “Working to Win”  presentation where key business leaders will discuss the state of various areas of the industry. Scheduled so far are Joel Schechter, president and CEO of Honora Industries, Inc.; Steve Magner, vice president Fine Jewelry, Neiman Marcus; Phyllis Bergman, president of Mercury Ring Corp.; and Michael Beaudry, president of Michael Beaudry/Centerstone Diamonds.
