Library Policies

2000 Summer - BooksThe public and members of the trade are welcome to use Library resources for on-site research. The GIA library is a closed-stack library. All patrons are helped at the front counter. Requests for appointments to view materials housed in the Cartier Rare Book Repository and Archives should be sent in writing to the Library Director at least two weeks prior to the date in question. Rare books may not be checked out. A research area is available for their examination at the Library.

Computer workstations are available to patrons who wish to gain Internet access to gem and jewelry web sites. Three additional computers are available for searching the Library's collections through the local on-line catalog and the Articles/Auction Catalog database.
