Diamonds Course at the Colorado School of Mines


The Society of Economic Geologists Student Chapter at the Colorado School of Mines is sponsoring a short course in diamonds Feb. 10 and 11, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The course will include an overview of the diamond industry from exploration to retail, diamond formation and mineralogy, exploration methods and case histories, synthetics, the Kimberley Process, and more. The lectures will be presented by Dr. Karin Hoal of the Colorado School of Mines and Ken Witherly of Condor Consulting.

The Colorado School of Mines campus is located in Golden, Colorado. The cost of the course is $295 for professionals ($345 after Feb. 1) and $30 for students. For more information, visit www.mines.edu/Academic/geology/seg/index.html or e-mail epesce@mines.edu.
