GIA Lab Classes

Participate, practice, and perform.

You may want to see if a career in gemology is right for you.  Or perhaps you have experience and you want to fine-tune your skills. You can take a Lab class on its own, or as part of your GIA diploma program.

PARTICIPATE.
Lab classes provide the perfect mix of lecture and hands-on training. You’ll learn from an expert GIA instructor, at your own workstation and acquire the grading and identification techniques used by the Institute’s renowned experts.

PRACTICE.
Take the concepts you learned in your courses and put them into practice. Lab classes fulfill the practical requirements necessary to earn your Graduate Gemologist, Graduate Diamonds, Graduate Colored Stones, or Graduate Pearls diploma

PERFORM.
Lab classes keep you sharp, up to date and competitive. You’ll be learning from an experienced GIA instructor using the latest gemology equipment and techniques – even if you aren’t enrolled in one of our programs.

Student Workrooms
Practice your gem identification skills in one of our student workrooms, the ideal environment for gem identification – complete with gemstones and equipment.  There’s always a GIA instructor on hand to answer questions and provide instruction. Student workrooms are available at  GIA Carlsbad and GIA New York, and at any GIA campus location worldwide.
