JMA145L | Pearl and Bead Stringing Lab
Master the skill of stringing and restringing pearls and beads like a professional.Increase your client base by taking advantage of the growing interest in pearl jewelry. Practice a multitude of stringing techniques, including how to string and knot using silk.

JMA320L | Basic Repair and Setting Lab
Learn basic repair and setting skills through hands-on training at your own fully equipped workbench – with expert GIA instruction. Learn how to size rings. Assemble and solder heads and shanks. Identify and set basic mounting styles. Tighten stones. Retip and replace prongs. Discover how to identify and evaluate quality craftsmanship. Work with white and yellow karat gold, as well as sterling silver.

Convert ideas into sales by learning professional design presentation techniques. JMA335L | Enameling Lab
Enameling puts the entire color spectrum at your fingertips. Gain hands-on experience in vitreous kiln-fired enameling. Make charms, sample tiles, and rings using professional techniques. Explore several transparent and opaque application methods. Practice masking and stenciling with actual tools of the trade.

JMA345L | Working with Wax Lab
In this Lab, you'll gain the skills you need to make original wax models and offer your clients custom manufacturing services.  Through personalized instruction, integrated video, text, and hands-on training, you'll learn precise wax carving techniques.  You'll work on projects designed to give you a wide range of wax carving skills.  You'll practice carving various ring styles and preparing wax items for casting.  In the process, you'll gain expertise with professional wax carving tools and instruments.

JMA350L | CAD/CAM for Jewelry Lab
In just ten days, learn CAD/CAM software that's specifically designed for the jewelry industry. With this advanced software, you're able to produce designs quickly and easily by using builder tools; create renderings with "life-like" gems and jewelry metals; and incorporate manufacturing techniques to validate your models. With CAD/CAM software, you can change your designs as quickly as you change your mind.

JMA365L | Advanced Stone Setting Lab
Prerequisite: Previous stone setting experience
With one-on-one instruction and hands-on practice, you gain the skill and confidence to accept more challenging stone setting business. GIA provides all tools and materials while you work with karat gold and sterling silver at your own workbench. Get real-world experience by practicing a variety of settings, including channel, flush, and pavé. This class is designed for those with some background in setting and focuses on practicing advanced techniques.

JMA370 | Jewelry Design
Find out what it takes to make custom jewelry. In just nine weeks, you’ll have the creative and technical skills you need to begin your career as a jewelry designer. And, you’ll have a portfolio of your work to show prospective employers – and clients. Understand jewelry design theory and acquire a working knowledge of jewelry artistry. Be able to illustrate the shape, form, and texture of metal. Learn how to work with drafting tools. Learn how to render yellow and white metals, as well as a range of faceted and cabochon gemstones and pearls. Illustrate rings in five different views. And discover how to keep your design ideas flowing.

JMA400L | Comprehensive CAD/CAM Lab

In this comprehensive class, you’ll take jewelry designs from concepts to photo-realistic renderings and finally to wax models ready for casting using a 4-axis mill. You’ll practice designing jewelry pieces right onscreen where modifications can be made in seconds. Master the timesaving skills needed to create designs to share with customers immediately. Discover how CAD software virtually eliminates the expensive “trial and error” stage of design and manufacturing. And you’ll see how computer aided design (CAD) dramatically reduces your time to market. You’ll use automated builder menus to pre-calculate dimensions and generate designs automatically right before your eyes. Learn how programmed specifications can create custom designs in less time than you ever thought possible.
