Job Title: Transport Services Assistant
Department: GIA Laboratory
City: Carlsbad, CA

Reports To: Manager, Transport Services

Primary Functions:

Processes incoming and outgoing parcels.

Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mailroom and/or data entry experience, preferred. For Intake and Release Station assignments, data entry is required.

Responsibilities:

May include one or all of the following station descriptions:

Intake Station: Opens incoming mail/courier parcels under camera, and enters content information and service codes into the computer. Confirms contents of packages, verifying that all items match the client's inventory, and then transfers items to next process step. Performs electronic transfers to Weights and Measures personnel.

Outweigh Station: Performs outweigh function, under camera, to ensure job contents match appropriate item weight to electronic records. Interfaces with Inventory Control personnel in preparation for shipping, as needed. Assists Release Station in parcel preparation.

Release Station: Collates reports, verifies parcel content under camera, and organizes parcels in preparation for shipment. Electronically prints and prepares invoices packing slips on the computer and shipping manifests. Performs the last step in Laboratory service-related processes.

Scans shipping documents into electronic archive and links the document(s) to job numbers for future reference.

Communicates effectively, gets along with co-workers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure.
