Cash & Pledge Donations
Donations and pledges of cash or securities can be made to honor or memorialize a family member, friend or colleague. These donations can be designated to the program or area you value most, or earmarked to endow the future of gemological education and research.
Memorials and Tributes
You can show your appreciation to a family member, friend or colleague by making a donation to GIA in their honor. We will notify the person of your choosing to let them know of your thoughtfulness.
Scholarships
GIA offers many scholarships for study at our one of our many U.S. and international campuses or through our distance education programs.
There are a number of ways you can support scholarships:
Your donation of any amount can be made to the Richard T. Liddicoat Scholarship Fund. This fund provides full-tuition scholarships for GIA’s Graduate Gemologist diploma program.
Create and name a scholarship with a donation of $500 or more. Scholarships may be named after a donor, a donor’s company, a GIA Alumni Chapter or in memory or in honor of someone. GIA offers many named scholarships.
Designate a scholarship for a particular location (e.g., On Campus or Distance Education) or educational programs and courses of study (e.g., Graduate Gemologist, etc.).

Bahia Campaign
Bahia, a 4-foot, 7-inch-tall, 602-pound quartz sculpture, was carved from a mammoth piece of transparent rutilated quartz found in the Bahia region of Brazil. Believed to be the world’s largest gemstone sculpture, Bahia is majestically suspended in a metal frame in GIA’s atrium and is a breathtaking sight to behold. Bahia was carved by renowned gem artists Glenn Lehrer, G.G., and Lawrence Stoller. The metal frame was designed and built by metal sculptor Pepe Ozan.
Your donation of $1,000 to the Bahia campaign will be permanently recognized on the Bahia Donor Wall located at GIA’s World Headquarters and Robert Mouawad Campus in Carlsbad, California.
Endowment Fund
The GIA Endowment is a permanent fund that provides a perpetual source of income for programs and services provided by the Institute. All financial contributions to the fund are invested and never spent. The interest earned is used to support GIA’s non-profit, mission-driven activities: education, research, the library and the museum.
