Meet a GIA Graduate
The tranquility of tropical skies and clear blue water were the setting for a profound change in Elizabeth
Showers' life. Seven years ago, while lying on a quiet beach in the Bahamas, Elizabeth decided to risk the
security of an established career in home furnishings for the excitement of pursuing her life's true calling
- jewelry design.
Once she made the courageous leap, Elizabeth began to perfect her craft, going from tinkering with beads,
to taking her art form seriously. "When I started out," she says, "I'd just play around until something worked
out right. Now the choices I make as a designer represent a lot of forethought, both creatively and from a
business standpoint."
